About Me

No, this photo doesn’t depict the boreal forest. It was taken in the Alberta badlands.

In less formal settings (i.e. most of the time), I go by my first name, Nathan. I grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada on the edge of the boreal forest. Currently, I reside in Manitoba with my wife and our crazy canine. Stories in various mediums have always captivated me, especially those that stretch the imagination and explore life’s questions from unique angles. When not crafting my own tales or working my day job, I enjoy bicycling in summer, cross-country skiing in winter, and games of most kinds all year round. I am a firm believer that ice cream forms a complete and essential food group.

Random fun facts

– George MacDonald’s works were some of the main stories that inspired my initial interest in fantasy.
– As a child, I thoroughly enjoyed building with Lego. I still do when I get the occasion.
– For several years during my writing journey, I stopped reading fiction. Worst writing mistake ever.
– Before deciding to pursue authorship instead, I had aspirations to become a zoologist.
– Film soundtracks are my go to music genre.
– I didn’t read the classic fantasies The Chronicles of Narnia or Lord of the Rings until adulthood.
– I’m one of the few authors who isn’t fueled by coffee. Besides water, herbal tea would be my drink of choice.
